Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle, built for King Ludwig II of Bavaria, rests in the picturesque foothills of the alps on the German-Austrian border. This 19th century palace is in the historicist style of architecture, which incorporates a medley of exaggerated decorative elements pulled from previous eras. The palace served as Disney's reference for Sleeping Beauty's fictional castle.
