Open Studio at Washington Square Park

Open Studio at Washington Square Park is a dynamic community center dedicated to celebrating performers and fostering creative connections between the three major ecologies housed by the park: human, animal, and nature.

The Open Studio building functions as a site model for a much larger architectural concept. The design features a permanent exterior shell that houses three open-concept floors, topped by the Arch Aviary public roof garden. The layout of each floor can be transformed at any time by activating the Flex-Floorplan System, a ceiling-mounted retractable system of rooms which fosters an inclusive atmosphere for even the most spontaneous of performances.
