Doors of Riverside Drive

The doors of Riverside Drive. Daily walks between my Upper Westside apartment and Columbia’s Morningside campus allow me to stop and appreciate the charming character of every stoop.

As I pass by each door, I can’t help but think about the many lives that are so intertwined along this street. Generation after generation, people have called the otherwise insignificant space beyond these doors their home. It makes me feel so small, yet it reminds me I am also a part of something greater than myself. I am grateful for the small things, like old doors, that help contribute to a deep sense of community wherever I go.
